Tous les matins du monde: IV.

.

1971-2008=37

.Départ

Assez vu.

Arthur Rimbaud

1854-1891=37

Departure

Seen enough. Vision met in every air.
Had enough. Murmurs of cities, evening, and in the sun, and always.
Learned enough. Life's stops. O Sound and Vision!
Depart in new affection and new noise.

or many people who are aware of their own capabilities and needs just acquiesce to the prevailing system in their thoughts and deeds, thereby confirming and reinforcing it.

At the cross-roads he glimpsed the sky to the east, above the sea.
There was Venus, wrapped in her turban of autumn mist.
She was always faithful, always awaiting Don Fabrizio
on his early morning outings, at Donnafugatta before a shoot,
now after a ball.
Don Fabrizio sighed.

When would she decide to give him an appointment less ephemeral,
far from stumps and blood,
in her own region of perennial certitude?

.

.

Theodor Fontane, Effi Briest, Achtes Kapitel.

"Ah, my dear lady, you must not say anything against youth.
Youth, oh yes, even when youth makes mistakes they remain splendid and enduring ones, and as for age, even it's virtues don't make it worth much.
For my own part, I'm afraid that I cannot speak on this point - I don't mean about age of course, but about youth, because I was never really young."
